Glencoe House has always supported Scottish art and the talented artists inspired by Scotland’s natural beauty

Many of the paintings exhibited throughout Glencoe House are provided for sale by two of Scotland’s main contemporary art galleries – The Strathearn Gallery in Crieff and the Annan Gallery in Glasgow. Both galleries are owned and run by husband and wife team Scott and Susan Bennett who, recognising the strength and depth of talent of artists in Scotland, feel it important to support and showcase these artists to the best of their ability. The Strathearn and Annan Galleries are recognised and known as leading galleries for the exhibiting and promoting of the very best of Scottish Art, with a worldwide client base.

The Strathearn Gallery, Crieff

The Strathearn Gallery in Crieff was established in 1994 and has since grown to be one of the most successful art galleries in the country.  Set over two floors, the gallery has regularly changing exhibitions showcasing Scottish contemporary art from the most recognised and best-known artists working today to those up-and coming artists who are just starting out in their career.

The gallery has always had a tradition of showing high quality art in a relaxed and friendly environment.  Whether returning to the gallery to see a favourite artist or just visiting the gallery for the first time to see what’s there, advice is always on hand if needed or if you’re just wanting to spend some time taking in the art and looking at beautiful objects, you’re welcome to do so at your own leisure. The gallery is also renowned for showing a wide selection of glass, ceramic and sculpture and hosts a regularly changing programme of exhibitions over the year meaning there are always new works being exhibited and something different to discover and enjoy. The Strathearn Gallery’s exhibitions can be viewed at www.strathearn-gallery.com

Crieff is a traditional Scots market town set in the heart of Scotland, amidst Perthshire’s stunning scenery. Best known for its historical cattle droving and whisky production, the Glenturret Distillery still operates today as is acknowledged as one of the oldest in Scotland.  As the capital of the Strathearn region, Crieff has royal connections throughout history and to the current day with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, given the subsidiary titles of Earl and Countess of Strathearn on the day of their wedding.

Annan Gallery, Glasgow

The Annan Gallery, situated in the West End of Glasgow, is Glasgow’s oldest gallery, tracing its roots back to 1855.

The original company T. & R. Annan & Sons was established by Thomas Annan in 1855 as a photography studio and was official photographer at the Glasgow Exhibitions of 1888, 1901 and 1911.  They received a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1889.

Over the years, T&R Annan & Sons also moved into fine art sales and promoted in turn each of the major Scottish Art movements and their predominant artists – a tradition that carries on today. The Annan family took the decision in 2006 to pass on the fine art side of the gallery to new owners but preserving the Annan name to maintain the rich reputation and history of the gallery.

It is this gallery in its current form that was purchased by Scott and Susan Bennett in 2017 and continues the long Annan tradition of promoting the best of Scottish Art with a programme of regularly changing exhibitions.  Like its sister gallery The Strathearn Gallery, the gallery also exhibits glass, ceramic and sculpture ensuring there’s always a piece of art for everyone.

Located in the West End of Glasgow, the gallery is easy to find with lots of parking nearby. Exhibitions can be viewed at www.annanart.com. Guests are invited to view the collection during their stay at Glencoe House and also enjoy the option of purchasing exclusive pieces to admire at home.
