The Sitting RoomOne of the key defining features of Glencoe House’s elegant accommodation is your personal private sitting room, which creates the ultimate retreat and hideaway. As Lord Strathcona’s sitting room, the exceptional period features are some of the best in the house. At 55 square metres, your private sitting room gives a sense of space and opulence. The intricate plaster work ceiling with its series of musical instruments among the symbols reflects one of the original uses of this room. Two twelve- branch crystal chandeliers light the space in elegance. Relax in your comfortable sitting room while enjoying a drink from the generously stocked ‘maxi’ bar in your antique sideboard. Other period features include the solid oak flooring and the working, original window shutters. Breakfast is a relaxed affair, served at a time of your choosing at your personal, full-sized dining table in the sitting room. Enjoy your breakfast while admiring the spectacular view and contemplating the day’s activities or browsing your choice of daily newspapers. |

The BedroomWhen entering the bedroom through the intricately panelled door it is difficult to know where to look first. The room has retained the original ornate ceiling; the elaborate plasterwork is composed of a series of fruit, flowers and ribbon images and is undoubtedly a unique feature of the house and is illuminated by a twelve-branch, crystal chandelier. The view from the room is no less spectacular as the large bay window was designed to frame the famous mountain, The Pap of Glencoe. The Super King bed allows for a restful and restorative night’s sleep and caters to comfort with 400 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. The room measures 27 square metres. The antique mahogany dressing table and large three door wardrobe adds the finishing touches to an elegant and refined room. |
